The demand for labour continues to rise in Australia. The surge in labour demand has led to a critically high shortage of skilled workers across 286 occupations in the country. From reports, the list of skills shortages has increased from 19% recorded a year ago to 31%. Due to the situation, the federal and state ministers’ meeting was said to centre on investing more in skills policy.

Australia Immigration Professionals stated that immigrants in different fields have good opportunities to secure valuable jobs in Australia. This is because the labour shortage cuts across diverse sectors.

Most In-Demand Occupations in Australia

In August, about 301,000 Australian job vacancies were advertised by employers. This record is said to be up by 37% compared to the job vacancies reported in August 2021. The labour shortage is turning into a pressure point for the Australian government. The government is, therefore, trying its best to overcome the labour shortage challenge.

The 2022 Skills Priority List revealed Australia’s top 20 in-demand occupations. The occupations on the list include registered nurses, software and applications programmers, aged, disabled and child carers, motor mechanics and chefs.

Australia Immigration Professionals thus stated that immigrants with these needed skills should find their way into Australia to access the readily available jobs.

Some other professions on the list are retail managers, metal fitters and machinists, physiotherapists, gardeners, mining engineers, etc.

Deepening Worker Shortage in Australia

The labour shortage in Australia is now so critical that jobs that were not experiencing labour shortages last year now do. Some of the jobs are hotel manager, dentist, meat boner and slicer, web developer and many more.
